Clarence “Leroy” Kiser, 82, of Staunton, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
He was born on September 21, 1943, in Augusta County, to the late Albert Adam and Rosie Martha Harris Kiser.
Professionally, he spent forty-two years employed as a machinist for both Westinghouse and McQuay in Verona.
A man of many interests and passions, he was a former member of the Jeff Davis Legion North-South Skirmish Association and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, and especially poker.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shelby Jean May Kiser; his children, Jeffrey Lee Kiser and his wife, Donna Cason Kiser, Jennifer Jane Kiser Vernol, and Elizabeth Gail May Kiser; and his grandchildren, Nathaniel Levi Adam Kiser, Barbara Rosemarie Vernol, Alan James Vernol II, and McKayla Dawn Kiser.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Jane Miller Kiser, and his sister, Patricia Lane Kiser Cox.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
A funeral service to honor Leroy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Reverend Russell Heinrich officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Trent Showalter, Joe Wenger, Jason Miller, Brett Liskey, Anthony Cox, and Don Loveless.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Gentiva Hospice for all their care, kindness, and compassion during this time. The family would also like to thank Sarah Bauer, his grandson’s girlfriend, for the devoted and loving nursing care she provided.
It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contributions, whether monetary or in the form of pet food and supplies, to the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Animal Shelter (1011 Lee Hwy, Verona, VA 24482).
