Clyde Edward Hagy, 91, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at his residence in Verona.
He was born on March 3, 1934, in Russell County, to the late Dave and Rosa Mae Ball Hagy.
For thirty-four years, Clyde dedicated himself to his career at Genesco.
A man of faith, Clyde attended Good News Ministries in Staunton. He was also a proud lifetime member of the Eagles, Elliott’s Knob FOE 680, in Staunton, an organization that provided him with lasting friendships and camaraderie.
Clyde truly loved being outdoors. He was happiest in the sunshine and near the water, whether he was fishing, relaxing by the shore, or simply enjoying the warmth of a beautiful day. In quieter moments, he could often be found playing cards.
A huge football fan, Clyde rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams, and game days were always a source of excitement and conversation.
He is survived by his daughters, Connie Graves and Sharon Hemp; his grandchildren, Scott and Alisha Hemp, Karman and Steve McCray, Andrew and Mandy Hemp, Kristan and James Cook, and Becky and Brandon White; his great-grandchildren, Anthony Golden, Brendan Hemp, Micah and Ethan Davis, Savanna and Tanner McCray, Layla Cook, Kayleigh, Alexis, Lillian and Eston Hemp, and Wyatt and Hunter White; his great-great grandchildren, Emma, Axl, and Harley Golden, Zander and Zane Avison, and Fletcher, Ida, and Sawyer White; his sister, Shirley Hewitt; his sisters-in-law, Shirley and Nancy Hagy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Fitzgerald Hagy; his son, Everett W. Hagy; his grandson, Jacob Hagy; his brothers, Columbus and George Robert Hagy; and his son-in-law, McCutchan Hemp.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Wanda Myers officiating.
Interment will immediately follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of the Shenandoah, especially Angela, Susan, and Tiffany, for their compassionate care, kindness, and support shown to Clyde and his family.
