Cynthia Ann Coe Spitzer, 76, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at her residence in Staunton.
Cindi was born on April 8, 1948, in Richwood, WV to the late George Harvey and Betty Lee Blake Coe. She was the eldest of her siblings.
She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. Cindi was an educator and civil servant, working as the Craigsville Postmaster where she retired after 35 years.
Cindi was a devoted wife and is survived by her husband of 52 years, Stephen Douglas Spitzer. She enjoyed spending time with him, her loving companion, and serving Christ. She was an active member of the Staunton Church of the Brethren, its choir and Sunday School. She enjoyed helping others through her fellowship and with her other friends in Christ from the church. She provided fun and great food for her family. She loved to bake and care for those whom she loved deeply.
She is survived by the family whom she loved and are her pride and joy; her two children and their partners, Beth Spitzer Moyer and Tom Knott and Brian Spitzer and Tyler Rhodes; her grandchildren, Courtney Moyer Adkins and her husband, Alex and Macon Alex Moyer III and his partner, Kristine Bajade; her great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Audrey Adkins; numerous nieces and nephews and two special cousins.
She is also survived and loved by her siblings-in-law, Karen Sambrook and her late husband, Larry, Keith and Vickie Spitzer, as well as her close friends, Brenda and Richard Powell and Dennis Masincup.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Deborah Coe-Wiedman.
A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM at the Staunton Church of the Brethren with the Reverend Beth Jarrett. There will be a brief visitation before and after the service. Friends may call at the funeral home 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be sent in memory of her to Staunton Church of the Brethern (1615 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA., 24401) or Shenandoah Hospice House (c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939), who provided her with in-home care with a special thanks to Kaitlyn and Tiffany for their kindness and care since January.
