Daisy Helen (Hutchinson) Vernon, 95, widow of Walter W. Vernon, of Waynesboro, died Tuesday, December 29, 2020, in Accordius Health at Waynesboro.
She was born April 15, 1925, in Alberta, a daughter of the late George D. and Katie Lou (Hamilton) Hutchinson.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Vernon was employed by DuPont with 16 years of service and Western State Hospital.
She was a member of Valley Baptist Church.
She was a member of Hospice of the Shenandoah and the American Cancer Society.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Daniel Vernon; a granddaughter, Heather Dawn Vernon; five brothers, Pete, Barnard, Bill, George, and James Hutchinson; and two sisters, Katherine Graves and Ethel.
Family members include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffery Scott Vernon of Staunton and Joseph Dale and Twyla Vernon of Verona; a daughter, Dreama F. Hiner of Verona and her companion, Mark Showalter; seven grandchildren, Nash Vernon, Megan and fiancé, Brandon Dillard, Shasta Vernon and fiancé, Mike Grant, Janet Castle, Courtney Vain, Kris Showalter and Brittany, Colton and his girlfriend, Rachel Johnson; and great grandchildren, Avery and Kaiden Dillard, Harley and Ronnie Jackson, Wayne Vain, Kris and Hunter Showalter, and Lulu and Jay Johnson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2020, at Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Frank Hall.
