Dawn M. Thompson

Dawn Marie Kelley Thompson, 63, of 532 Alleghany Avenue, Staunton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 14, 2026, passing away peacefully at Augusta Health in Fishersville with loved ones by her side, after a short battle with pneumonia resulting from advanced lung cancer.

She was born on January 10, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of the late Leonard Joseph and Patricia Anne Mattocks Kelley.

She was a woman of great strength who cared deeply for her children, her husband, and her dogs. She was proud of her accomplishments managing multiple small farm businesses and was passionate about a homeopathic and all-natural way of living.

She was a fantastic cook and hosted many gatherings at her home throughout the years. She will be missed by many in her community, where she worked most recently as a local Realtor with Old Dominion Realty.

She is survived by her son, Daniel Clawson of Mount Solon; her daughter, Eryn Paxton and her husband, Gary; her grandson, Brayden Paxton, all of Ranson, West Virginia; and her five brothers and sisters, Deb Grymkoski, Lonnie Kelley, Chris Flear, Joe Kelley, and Jenifer Masterson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years, Charles "Chuck" Everett Thompson; her beloved son, Johnathan William Toomey; and a sister, Lori Kelley Sewick.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Augusta Regional SPCA (PO Box 2014, Staunton, VA 24402) or to the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Animal Shelter (1011 Lee Highway, Verona, VA 24482).
