Listen to Obituary

Dennis Adrine Lavaway, 74, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at his residence in Crimora.

He was born on September 23, 1951, in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Adrine Dennis and Louise Effie Ferguson Lavaway.

Dennis was a hardworking man whose life was defined by craftsmanship, and a deep love for his family. As the owner of Virginia Industrial, he built a successful career as a metal fabricator for many years.

Dennis found his greatest joy outdoors. Whether he was fishing, camping, or simply spending time in nature, he was happiest in those moments. He had a natural talent for working with his hands and enjoyed tinkering, fixing things, and taking on just about any project that involved tools. There seemed to be little that Dennis couldn't repair, build, or improve.

He was especially proud of his automobiles and was well known for the care and attention he devoted to restoring and maintaining them. When he wasn't working in the garage, he could often be found tending to his lawn, another source of pride and enjoyment.

Dennis also enjoyed relaxing with his wife, Donna, watching NASCAR races and listening to classic rock music. Though he had many interests and hobbies, nothing meant more to him than his family. He deeply loved those closest to him and treasured the time spent together.

He is survived by his sons, Neil Dennis Vavaway, Mason Andrew Lavaway and his wife, Jessica, Jacob Andrew Lavaway and his wife, Samantha; and Nicholas Dennis Lavaway and his wife, Katie; his brother, Gary Kenneth Lavaway, Sr.; his sisters, Mildred Louise Lavaway, Carolyn L. Lavaway Griffin, and Marilyn A. Lavaway Saucier; his grandchildren, Celeste, Xander, Morgan, Orrin, Arya, Katelynn, Dillon, Jesson, and Gabriel; and his great-grandchild, Josavian.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lynn Grenier Lavaway; his sister, Connie Edna Lavaway Orcutt; and his grandchild, Sadajia.

At this time there are no services to announce.

Henry Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
