Donald Charles Meyers, 70, a dedicated fleet management specialist at Dominion Power for nineteen years, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was born on July 4, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Jack Charles, Jr. and Carman Regina Brand Meyers.
Throughout his life, Donald was known for his love of jigsaw puzzles – most especially when he was solving them with his wife, Cynthia. He also enjoyed playing board games and yard games with his family. An enthusiast of music, he played the bass guitar – a passion he shared with his son, Branden. Donald truly enjoyed rock music, especially Pink Floyd. Given that he shared a birthday with Independence Day, he had a special love for fireworks. Additionally, Donald had a unique hobby of collecting knives which he shared with his son, Adam. He also found joy in feeding the squirrels.
Donald will be dearly missed by his surviving family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Cynthia Leigh McKay Meyers; his sons, Branden Edward Meyers and his wife Jennifer, and Adam Alexander Meyers. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Meyers Wills and her husband, Larry; his niece, Kimi Wills; his nephew, David Wills and his wife, Vera, and their children Grady and Charles. Donald also held a special place in his heart for his beloved cats, Grayson and Raven.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the same location.
Donald was a proud donor to the Virginia State Anatomical Program.
It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contribution to the Augusta Regional SPCA (P.O. Box 2014, Staunton, VA 24402) and the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah (c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939).
