Donald L. Strother Sr.

Donald Lee Strother, Sr., 71, husband of Deborah J. Strother, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born on November 7, 1950 in Staunton to the late Wilbur “Skeeter” Leo Strother, Sr. and the late Catherine Marie (Johnson) Strother.

He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and was an Army veteran. He loved the Cowboys, camping, and being with his family.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Yvette (Strother) Brooks.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by his son, Donald Strother, Jr. and Karen Crickenberger of Fishersville; daughter, Nicole Stephens of Staunton; son, Chris and wife Sheena Strother of Mount Solon; three sisters, and one brother, Claudia Gaines and husband Stuart, JoAnn Williams, Jean Johnson, and Wilbur Strother, Jr.; grandchildren, Seth and Alexia Strother, Chaya and Amaya Strother, Silaysia and Nailee Crickenberger; as well as numerous other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor John Benson of Augusta Street United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
