Doris Ann (Hendricks) Moore, age 79, of Staunton went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on July 30, 2021. She was born November 13, 1941, in Augusta County, Virginia and daughter of Charles and Eliza Hendricks.
Doris attended Wilson Memorial High School and had worked at the Dixie Theater and C&P Telephone Company as an operator before going to General Electric.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Troy J. Edwards, known as “T.J.”; brother, Clarence Hendricks, and a grandson, Justice Moore.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Nelson Moore; her son, Darrell Edwards and wife Becky; her daughter, Tiffany Moore and Fiancé, Sam Simmons; nine grandchildren, Brooke Ann, Travis, Tyler, Drake, Nicholas, Jaden, Alexa Siebert, and Sterling Edwards; step granddaughter, Sarah Tyree and her children; as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a step-grandson, Steven Clark and his children. She is also survived by a sister Ruby Simmons and husband, Billy Simmons.
Doris leaves behind to cherish her memories close friends, Maury and Stuart Thomas, Mareen and David Grey, Nancy Sutton, Dixie Fletcher, as well as her close friend and cousin, Mary Whitesell; and special cousin, “Wiggy”.
In keeping her wishes, a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Middlebrook Church of God at 3121 Middlebrook Road by the Rev. Larry Strickler and Pastor David Whitesell.
Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Churchville, Virginia.
Family night will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2021, in the Henry Funeral Home, Staunton.
Active pallbearers will be Shawn Simmons, Derick Simmons, Joey Simmons, Travis Johnson, Timmy Johnson, and Ashton Mullinax.
Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Simmons and Mike Grant.
