Dorothy R. Back

Dorothy Lee Rowe Back, 94, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Heritage Hall in Lexington.

She was born on July 5, 1931, in Swoope to the late Lambert Alwin and Lillian Lenora Crickenberger Rowe.

Dorothy retired from the American Safety Razor Company in Verona after thirty-two years of service. Outside of work, she found great joy in the outdoors and spending time with others. She enjoyed camping and fishing, bowling, western-style square dancing, and traveling.

She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Staunton, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, chairman of the mission group, and was involved in numerous other church committees over the years.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband in 2010, Elmer Russell Back; her brothers, Earl Alwin and Leonard Rowe; and her sister, Charlotte Rowe Miller.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton with Brett Isernhagen officiating.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
