Dorothy found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved trying her luck with the lottery, especially scratch-off tickets, and could often be found with a good mystery novel in hand. She enjoyed listening to country music and treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Edward “Ed” Lee Guffey and his wife, Polly and Donald “Donnie” William Guffey and his wife, Donna of Ashland, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Stephen Edward Guffey and his wife, Liz of Arlington, Virginia, Jeffrey Scott Guffey and his wife, Nancy of Arlington, Virginia, and Andrew Guffey and his wife, Cristy of Ashland, Kentucky; her great-grandchildren, Jake, Sean, Luke, Hailee, Alaina, Allison, and Kynli Guffey; two special cousins, George and Graydon Lamb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Lee Guffey; her grandson, Kevin Guffey; her three brothers; and her four sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church in Staunton with the Reverend Tizzy von Trapp Walker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM.
Interment will immediately follow at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.
Active pallbearers will be; her grandsons Andy, Steve, and Jeff; and her great-grandsons, Jake, Sean, and Luke Guffey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard and Brenda Powell, Bill and Connie Colvin, Phil and Anna Morrisette, Jim and Marilyn Rimel, and Nancy Marshall.
