Eugene Rodney Paxton, 79, of Staunton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
Rodney was born on April 22, 1941 in Staunton to the late Eugene and Nannie Paxton. He was a member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Wilson Memorial High School. He served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He worked for 38 years and retired from Dupont. He was a school bus driver for Augusta County Public Schools. He was a member of the Waynesboro Masonic Lodge.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tabatha Renae Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandy; two daughters, Mary Beth Reed (Michael) and Lucy McCune (Tyler); three grandchildren, Hunter Brown, Erik and Carmen Reed; two sisters, Janet Arndt and Jane Perry (Ted); mother-in-law, Maxine Yancey; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Yancey and Linda Yancey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is scheduled for this Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 2pm at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Masonic rites by Lee Lodge #209. Friends and family will be received following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
