Elizabeth Paulette Furr, 78, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at the Meadows at Stuarts Draft Retirement Community.
Paulette was born on March 27, 1947, in Augusta County, the daughter of the late Paul C. and Mary F. Furr.
She was a graduate of Valley Vocational Technical Center and was a cosmetology instructor for over twenty-five years. She was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church.
Paulette had a rare and beautiful gift for seeing people for who they truly were and for gently coaxing them out of their shell. Whether it was kind word, a knowing smile, or the comfort of her presence, she had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard and valued. She made room for people to be themselves, and in doing so, helped many rediscover joy, confidence and belonging.
She will be remembered for the warmth of her presence, her generous heart, and the beautiful legacy that she leaves behind in both memories and handmade treasures.
One of her greatest joys was crocheting. Whether it was a delicate doily or a thoughtful keepsake she found great happiness in creating gifts for the people she loved. Her handmade creations were more than crafts – they were expressions of love and comfort that brought joy to countless birthdays, holidays and everyday moments.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula C. Moore-McClure (Rex) of Stuarts Draft; a special cousin "more like a sister", Nancy Furr Talley of Staunton, and special friends, Paul and Sandra Richardson of Stuarts Draft, as well as many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory always.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Paulette’s memory to the Augusta Health Foundation, c/o Hospice of the Shenandoah (P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA, 22939).
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her caregivers at the Meadows and her hospice team, whose compassion, patience, and dedication provided comfort not only to Paulette, but also to her family and friends. Their presence during her final chapter was a profound blessing, and their kindness will never be forgotten.
