ELIZABETH M. HOGG STAUNTON, VA Elizabeth "Betsy" Lee (McAllister) Hogg, of 113 Waverley Green, Staunton, died Monday, September 1, 2014, at Augusta Nursing and Rehab Center, Fishersville. She was born March 7, 1944, in Staunton, a daughter of John R. McAllister, II, and Virginia (Souder) McAllister. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Lynn G. Hogg; two brothers, William Kenly McAllister "Ken" of Staunton and John R. McAllister, III "Bob" and his wife, Anne, of Arlington; two nephews, Andrew McAllister and his wife, Katie, of Arlington and William Kenly McAllister, Jr., of Staunton; one niece, Mary Scot Boyce and her husband, Matt, of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grand nephews; and two grand nieces. Betsy was a graduate of R. E. Lee High School (1962) and Longwood College (now University). She was an elementary school teacher and later a secretary. She had been a volunteer at KDH Thrift Shop, SACRA, and Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was a member. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2014, at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. Paul S. Nancarrow, officiating. Burial will be in Thornrose Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall (McCracken Hall). Her husband would like to thank Dr. Kerry Alexander for the care he extended to her for many years.
