Ella H. Jordan

Ella Louise Helmick Jordan, 87, widow of the late Paul Lee Jordan, passed away on January 31, 2023 at her residence in Waynesboro.

Ella was born on May 23, 1935 in Staunton to the late Hiram “Hi” Sylvester and Nina Mae Strickler Helmick.

She loved reading her Bible, bird-watching, and in her younger days, she enjoyed raising chickens. She was also a faithful and devoted member of Straightway Ambassador Holiness Church in Waynesboro.

She is survived by her children, Carl “Chuck” Cletus Wiseman and his wife, Angela of Staunton, Michael Curtis Wiseman of Staunton, Sonya Eavey and her husband, Joe of Waynesboro, Ruth Barnes and her husband, Junior of Crimora, Philip Jordan and his wife, Linda of Waynesboro, Timothy “Timmy” Lee Jordan of Staunton, Anna Rose and her husband, Larry of Stuarts Draft, Rebekah “Becky” Shaffer and her husband, Andrew of Pryor, OK, and Joy Esther Clark and her husband, Kenny of Waynesboro; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Francis Wiseman; a daughter, Grace Louise Thacker; her sisters, Lula Mae Helmick Huffman, Betty Sislica Helmick Earhart, and Armenia B. Helmick Buchanan; a great-granddaughter, Breanna Eavey.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Henry Funeral Home with Pastors Fred Canter and Bill Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
