Evie H. Pyne

Evie Kay Hewitt Pyne, 82, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at English Meadows in Fishersville.

She was born on November 18, 1942, in Augusta County to the late Elton Massie, Sr. and Ruby Ethel Harris Hewitt.

Evie had a love for gardening, nature, and animals. Evie's passion for farming and animals was exemplified by her long-standing involvement with the Virginia Angus Association.

She is survived by her step-daughter, Cynthia “Cyndi” Santowasso and her husband, Tony; her step-son, John “Jay” Pyne, III and his wife, Vickie; her two grandsons, Aaron and Zachary Santowasso; her granddaughter, Samantha Pyne; and twelve nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Jefferson Pyne, Jr.; her brothers, Clay Edward and Elton Massie Hewitt, Jr.; her sisters, Jean Elizabeth Hewitt Wise and Eloise Hewitt Moore; and a nephew, Dennis Hewitt.

Evie devoted her life to caring for her family and others, of all ages, during her time on this earth.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to all who provided care, comfort, and kindness to Evie.

At her request, no formal services will be held.
