FRANCES R. RUTLEDGE STAUNTON, VA… Frances Deloris “Nickie” (Rhea) Rutledge, 68, wife of John P. Rutledge, of 831 Paul Street, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Augusta Health, Fishersville.She was born August 13, 1947, in Staunton at King’s Daughters’ Hospital, a daughter of the late Stanley Chester and Charlene Marie (Balser) Rhea, affectionly nicknamed Nicodemus by her grandfather, everyone came to know her as “Nickie”. Nickie grew up in Craigsville. She attended one year at Craigsville High School and three at Buffalo Gap High School, and graduated in 1965. During the late 80’s and 90’s, she organized the community Thanksgiving dinner at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for 17 years. Nickie was known for her kind spirit and sweet smile that she offered to all she met. In addition to her husband, family members include her children, Vonda Rutledge, Cindy Rutledge, and Travis Rutledge, all of Staunton; five dearly loved grandchildren, Cameron Travis, Corey Spencer, Summer Nicole, Madison Elizabeth Rutledge, and Ashton Monique Lam; a number of nieces and nephews; two special cousins, Russell “Bo” Flint, Jr., and Louise Hoy; two dear friends, Barbara Hinkle and Kimberly Herndon. She was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Hudnall. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Good News Ministries conducted by the Rev. Gregory Miller. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2016, in Thornrose Cemetery.
