Freda M. Fleisher

Freda M. “Granny” Fleisher, 76, of Staunton, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026 at the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Born on May 18, 1950, in Rockingham County, she was the widow of Russell Fleisher and the daughter of the late Minnie Morris.

Freda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured her family. Fondly known as “Granny” by most who knew her, her happiest memories were spent surrounded by the people she loved, especially her granddaughters and great-grandson. She will be remembered for her kind heart and the quiet strength she showed to those who were closest to her.

Surviving her are her son, Rodney Fleisher, and his wife, Lee; her daughter, Charity Moneymaker; her two granddaughters, Coty and her husband, Cory Hargrove, and Rachel Fleisher; her great-grandson, Rowan Hargrove; her bonus grandson, Justin Thornton; her two brothers, Freddie Morris, Jr., and Chris Morris; her two sisters, Jenny Simmers and Robyn Reardon; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Dawn Morris and Elaine Ford.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Valley Children’s Advocacy Center in Staunton (1105 Greenville Ave, Staunton, VA 24401) or the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank – Western Region Branch (96 Laurel Hill Rd, Verona, VA 24482).
