Gary Davis Bosserman, 77, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was born on May 19, 1947, in Staunton to the late Alvin Dennis (A.D.) and Jennie Lee Davis Bosserman. In most recent years he resided with his sister, Judy, in Waynesboro.
Gary was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and honorably served in the United States Air Force. His military service instilled in him a sense of duty that he carried into his professional life as a Virginia state trooper.
Gary took great interest in the world around him, always striving to stay informed about current events. His love for sports was widely known among his friends and family. He was a huge sports fan who took great delight in following his favorite teams.
Gary was also known for his love of going for walks. However, it was his family that brought him the greatest joy and fulfillment.
He is survived by his son, Chad Bosserman of Petersburg; his daughter, Jenny Leigh Peters and her husband, Thomas of Dinwiddie; his sister, Judy Hostetter; his nephews, David Mahanes, II and Jason Hostetter; his nieces, Tammy Puffenbarger, Vrla Leach, and Robin Vorhees; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Christine Bosserman Mahanes; an his half-brothers, Harold Dennis, Earl Walker, Sr., Kenneth Bosserman and Basil Lee Bosserman.
A memorial gathering will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Fishersville United Methodist Church.
