Gary Franklin Corbett, 74, husband of Geraldine (Brooks) Corbett, passed away after a short battle with cancer on October 28, 2021 at Birch Gardens.
He was born on May 15, 1947 in Staunton to the late Carl Sterling and Reba (Fitzgerald) Corbett.
Gary was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge #351 and VFW Post #2216. He worked at Charlie Obaugh and Advanced Auto Parts. He was an avid golfer and was a fan of Nascar, baseball, the Orioles, and UVA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Michael S. Corbett (fiancé Lynn Coyner); his daughter, Krista Corbett Smith (Lang); his brothers, Ronald N. Corbett (Lupita) and Thomas S. Corbett (Patricia); his sisters-in-law, Sandra Smallwood (Ron) and Martha Chandler; his grandchildren, Katelyn Corbett, Noah Smith, Mary Smith, Ethan Corbett, Langely Smith, Lyla Coyner, and Sophia Coyner; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; his dog Maddie; and his special Canaan family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Henry Funeral Home and other times at the home at 803 Fisher Circle, Staunton.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Ray Hatcher. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens with military honors by the Army and VFW Post #2216.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Chandler, Chad Sligh, Noah Smith, Ethan Corbett, James Corbett, Mike Robertson, and Robert Corbett.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Elks Lodge #351.
