CARENCRO, LA ~ George McCoy Andrews, Jr., 67, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022 at The Carpenter House in Lafayette.
Mr. Andrews was a native of Staunton, Virginia and a resident of Carencro. He was employed with Barry Concrete for twenty-four years. A devout servant of Christ, he was a member of Vatican Baptist Church, enjoyed volunteering vacation bible school, volunteered his time at St. Joseph's Diner, and was a member of Celebrate Recovery of First Baptist Church in Opelousas. George was also a volunteer fireman in Carencro and in Staunton, Virginia.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing softball throughout his adult life. George was an incredibly kind man with a big heart, he left everyone he knew with fond memories.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of forty-two years, Loretta Andrews; two brothers, William Mackey Andrews, Jr. and his wife, Ann, and James Todd Andrews and his fiancée, Julie; one sister, Paige Michelle Andrews and her significant other, Jennifer Gross; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George McCoy Andrews, Sr., and the former Joan Leigh Mackey; and his grandmother, Juanita Gum Mackey.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton by Pastor Bobby Campbell.
