Grace Tuerk

GRACE TUERK STAUNTON, VA… Grace Tuerk (nee Gioia), 92, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2018. She was born in Buffalo, New York and was one of seven children. Grace worked as a candy maker for several years before marrying her (now deceased) husband, Wilfred (Bill) Tuerk. They moved to Poughkeepsie, NY and later to Staunton, VA. She was always very artistic and enjoyed sewing, baking, cross stitch and Scrabble. While Grace did not have children of her own she was a wonderful aunt to her 12 nieces and nephews who will dearly miss her. She is survived by a sister, Gerry Haas, in Scottsdale, AZ. There will be a memorial service for Grace at The Legacy at North Augusta at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 8. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the recreation program at The Legacy. Donations should be addressed to, The Legacy at North Augusta, 1410 A N. Augusta Street, Staunton, VA 24401 (memo: Connective Living).
