Helen Louise Shifflett Corbin, 88, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Augusta Health Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
She was born on June 25, 1938, in Waynesboro to the late Cecil H. and Ethel Terrell Shifflett.
Helen dedicated thirty-two years of her career to General Electric, where she worked as a Quality Control Inspector.
She attended Fishersville United Methodist Church.
Helen found her greatest joy in caring for others, especially through cooking. She loved spending time in the kitchen preparing meals for family and friends, and there was nothing she enjoyed more than bringing people together around the table. If blue crab was on the menu, Helen was sure to be there.
She loved the outdoors, with camping being one of her favorite pastimes. She took every opportunity she could to enjoy nature and looked forward to every camping trip. She also loved to travel and enjoyed visiting new places.
She is survived by her sons, David Shifflett and his wife, Kelly of Stuarts Draft, Michael Corbin and his wife, Debbie of Baltimore, Maryland, and Robin Corbin and his wife, Carol, of Waynesboro; her daughter, Martha Corbin Lowery and her partner, Vance; her brother, Wayne Shifflett; her grandchildren, Tyler Corbin, Martha Jones, Elizabeth Hogan, Levi Brown, and Lindsey Fletcher; her nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Joseph Drega; her first husband, James Luther Corbin; her brother, Eugene Shifflett; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Shifflett.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Fishersville United Methodist Church with Pastor Peter Choi officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 AM.
Interment will immediately follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fishersville United Methodist Church (1600 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, VA 22939).
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of Shenandoah House for the exceptional care and support they provided during Helen's time there. Your dedication and comfort meant more than words can express.
