Henry G. Goodbar

Henry Gardner Goodbar, 79, husband of Judy Lee Goodbar, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Mr. Goodbar was born on July 25, 1943, in Lexington, Virginia, a son of Cluster M. and Florence (Zollman) Goodbar.

Henry was a member of Valley Baptist Church where he served as Head Usher for five years. As you walked through the doors, you were greeted with a big smile and friendly welcome. He loved the Lord, his family, and friends. Henry was a truck driver prior to his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Sechrist Goodbar; a daughter, Iona Kinkead (Scott) of Stuarts Draft; a son, Kevin Goodbar (Misty) of Monterey; a stepson, Jamie Richards (Virginia) of Strasburg; two stepdaughters, Michelle Foltz (Festus) of Strasburg and Ann Smith (Mike) of Albright, WV; two sisters, Eloise Sensabaugh (Larry) and Maxine Smiley of Lexington; three grandchildren, Sarah Kinkead, Andrew Kinkead (Kat) and Ellie Goodbar; eight step grandchildren, Kayla Penley, Adam Penley, Jason Penley, Madison Foltz, Garrett Richards, Morgan Richards, Taryn Smith and Darby Smith; two step grandchildren, Carter and Kit.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Rexrode Goodbar, and a sister, Phyllis Tyree.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Henry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Frank Hall and Pastor Tim Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Rickie Goodbar, Tim Goodbar, Jr., Bobby Eavers, Ted Babinger, Jeremy Ambler, and Ron Loveland.

The family would especially like to thank Hospice of the Shenandoah who took excellent care of him during his final days.
