Henry Lee Houseknecht, 84, a treasured husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on February 4, 1941, in Nuttallburg, West Virginia, to the late Raymond C. and Daisy Young Houseknecht.

A proud veteran, Henry served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. After completing his military service, he pursued an electronics career, working for General Electric (GE), Genicom, and then GE FANUC in Charlottesville until his retirement in 2001.

Henry graduated from Sophia High School, Sophia, WV, in 1959. One of his proudest moments in life was marrying Christene B. Houseknecht on October 24, 1962, in Shady Valley, Tennessee. They shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.

In addition to his dedication to family, Henry was actively involved in the Spottswood Ruritan Club where he worked at the horse show, concession stands, and other fundraisers. He loved deer hunting in Highland County and on friends' farms in Nelson County and Western Augusta County, often donating venison to those in need.

Henry is survived by his wife, Christene B. Houseknecht; their children, Denise E. Houseknecht from Bar Harbor, ME, Deann K. Houseknecht from Churchville, VA, and Ben E. Houseknecht from Staunton, VA; his granddaughter, Emma R. Houseknecht from Staunton, VA; his brothers, Dwight M. Houseknecht and wife, Sheila from Riverview, FL, and Joey L. Houseknecht from Edgemere, MD; his sisters, Janet Lavdis from North Royalton, OH, Libby Kojack and husband, Mort from Tappahannock, VA, Daisy Ann Kazmaier from Florida, and Edith Spears and husband, Ray from Granbury, TX.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Johnnie E. Houseknecht; sisters, Nancy Arnold and Mary McGinnis; and his daughter-in-law, Nancy H. Houseknecht.
