Henry Stahli Redard, born May 27, 1932, died on February 28, 2022 at Birch Gardens Assisted Living.
Mr. Redard was born to the late J.U. and Jeanne Redard of Greenville.
Stahli was a Korean War veteran who was awarded several medals including rifle/pistol expert, and numerous other distinguished medals. He was discharged from the Marine Corp in 1952.
He discovered his love for welding and worked for several companies before joining VDOT. He retired in 1992 after 22 years.
Many will remember “The Shop”, where he used his abilities and creativity to build, fix, and help anyone who asked. He spent countless hours clearing snow-covered driveways or unfreezing frozen pipes. He was the best welder around and if Stahli put a hitch on your car – it was built to last.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Isabel Strempek, and brother-in-law, Hank.
He is survived by his wonderful wife, Gene; three daughters, Randy, Martha, and Andrea; and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Emma, and Trey. They will continue to live out the good memories created through the years, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 5-7 P.M. at Henry Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 6410 Lee Jackson Hwy, Steeles Tavern with the Reverend Andrea Conder officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting Intrepid Hospice, 427 Lee Jackson Hwy, Suite 3, Staunton, VA 24401 or St. Francis UMC, 4200 McKee Road, Charlotte, NC, 28277.
A special thanks to the staff at Birch Gardens and Alyssa and Ashley with Intrepid Hospice.
