Ida Louise (Almarode) Showker, 93, formerly of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Bellaire of Stone Port in Harrisonburg.
Born on May 20, 1928 in Waynesboro, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late George Raymond Almarode and Maggie Darnell Almarode. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Edward Showker, Sr. in 2004.
Ida was an Independent Agent for Pyramid Insurance. She also worked at Western State Hospital, was owner of the Berkeley House Home for Adults, Brides and Guys and Chere’le Shop in Staunton.
She is survived by two sons, Skip Showker and Anthony Showker of Staunton and a daughter, Sandra Trongone of Richmond, five grandchildren, Aaron Showker, Kristen Eid, Amanda Baramki, Chereen Baramki and Nadia Martinez as well as seven great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Craigsville Community Cemetery.
