Ina Mae Rexrode Sheets
Ina Mae Rexrode Sheets of Staunton died Wednesday morning, November 16, 2022 at Brightview.
She was born May 28, 1931 in Highland County, VA to William Hiner Rexrode and Emma Madge Ryder Rexrode.
She was a graduate of Mt Sidney High School and was a member of and attended Marquis Memorial Methodist Church for most of her adult life.
On September 16, 1950 she married John Shannon Sheets who preceded her in death on January 11, 2007.
She retired from American Safety Razor in Verona with over 25 years of service where she made many lifelong friends.
Ina was known as a sweet, loving, generous and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was always the caregiver, putting everyone else’s needs before her own. She worked hard all of her life and was constantly on the move. She loved caring for her home and yard and was able to remain there until the last few weeks of her life.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Hilda Kurtz and Virginia (Willie) Lockridge.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry D and Lindy Sheets of Weyers Cave and Douglas W and Marnie Sheets of Staunton; five grandchildren, W Tyler Sheets of Richmond, Molly Sheets Corbin and James of Richmond, Michael Sheets of Mt Solon, Christian Sheets of Staunton and Sydney Sheets Shah and Cameron of Richmond; and a great grandchild, William Corbin.
The family wishes to recognize and thank Ina’s care team at Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah and her wonderful care givers Rachel Brown, Deborah Shifflett , and particularly Mert Brubaker. Mert was a special friend to Ina. Her love and care of Ina, as well as her advice and guidance to the family, was a Godsend.
There will be a time for visitation of family and friends at Henry Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22 from 6-8 pm. There will be no public viewing. Memorial service and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marquis Memorial Methodist Church, 1614 W Beverley Street, Staunton , VA 24401 or Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, P O Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.
