Iris Gail Arther Maturo, 82, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at her residence in Swoope.
She was born on August 23, 1943, in Meriden, Connecticut.
Iris was a woman who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She especially loved playing cards and games, with favorites including blitz, rummy, and Yahtzee
Hardworking and dedicated, Iris gave her all in everything she did. She was employed with Comfort Inn in Staunton for over twenty years, where her strong work ethic and dependable nature were evident to all who knew her.
Iris was truly one of a kind - loving, patient, and kind to everyone she met. It could be said she never had an enemy. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She loved deeply and unconditionally, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who meant everything to her.
She is survived by her daughter, Iris Gail Maturo Stokes and her husband, Joseph; her grandchildren, A.J. Maturo (Alissa), Heather Stokes Ham (Nathan), Joseph Stokes; her great-grandchildren, T.J. Maturo, Katie Nicole; and one on the way, Liam Tate Ham.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Lee Maturo.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton with Pastor Phillip Morgan officiating.
Henry Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
