Isabelle V. O'Neil

Isabelle Virginia Altizer O'Neil, 82, a cherished mother and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at River Edge Rehabilitation and Nursing in Waynesboro. She will be remembered fondly for her faith and her love of family. Her legacy of kindness and grace will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Born on March 2, 1942, in Augusta County to the late Robert Glaspy and Mary Virginia Griffin Altizer, Isabelle lived a life rich with love, faith, and a deep connection to her faith.

Isabelle was known for her unwavering faith as an active and devoted member of the Verona Full Gospel Church, where she expressed her love for the Lord daily. Her spiritual dedication was matched only by her love for nature. She took great pleasure in observing the world from her window, particularly delighting in the animals that graced her view. Her cooking was renowned among family and friends, reflecting the warmth and love she infused into every meal. Family was at the heart of Isabelle's life and she was a loving mother to all her sons.

She is survived by her loving sons, Billy O'Neil and wife Anita, Jerry O'Neil and wife Mary, Roy O'Neil and Sandra, Elden O'Neil, Daniel O'Neil and wife Patty, Stacey O'Neil, Harvey O'Neil and Felicia Cripps; her grandchildren, Joshua and wife Kristin, Heather, Sebastian, Terry, Harley, Stephanie, Daniel, Jr., Justin, Nathan, Benjamin, Kayleigh, Ryan, Cambree, Jayden, Avery, Micah, and Alexa O'Neil, Richard and Eleanor Grant, Flora and Ethan Pooler, Tonya, Aleah, and Zachary Flinchum, Elijah and Dalton Smith, Emma and Ethan Teter, Olivia Fussel, Corey Davis, Jeremiah Cripps, Michael Thomas, Joni Bright, Christian Broughman, and Kendrick Howard; and her great-grandchild, Kotah Cripps.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd Louis O'Neil; her brothers, David Calvin, Glen Marvin, Graydon Wayne, Elden Garnett, John Robert, and Richard "Junior" Glaspy Altizer; her sisters, Mary Ann Altizer Duck, Peggy Jean Altizer, Hazel G. Altizer Ailer, and Charlotte Mae Altizer Griffin; and one infant brother.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 10:00 AM, also at Henry Funeral Home with Reverend Peter Grimm and Brother Mike Sipe officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua, Sebastian, and Michael O'Neil, David Pooler, Richard Grant, and Andrew Myers.
