James B. Desper

James Boyd Desper, 72, of Staunton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah House in Fishersville, VA.

He was born on January 30, 1954, in Staunton, VA to the late Robert Madison Desper and Phyllis May Jones Mitchell.

He worked for many years for Asplundh Tree Service and was proud of the time spent in Florida and New Orleans helping during the aftermath of several hurricanes. He later enjoyed working for Charlie Obaugh Farms where he took care of the cattle. Showcasing his love for the outdoors, he particularly loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Ann Hise Desper; his daughter, Teresa "Boo" Beth Desper (Michael Zullo); his grandson, Anakin Zullo; and his brothers; Bob and David Desper.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Robert James Desper and his twin daughters, Alicia Dawn and Christina Rae Desper.

At his request there will be no services.
