Jane Arnold Hawpe Law, 83, of Middlebrook, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

She was born on October 7, 1942, in Greenville to the late Arnold Clarkson and Emma Virginia Moneymaker Hawpe.

Jane found joy in caring for others throughout her life. While she held a variety of jobs over the years, including church secretary, the role she cherished most was that of being a mother and a homemaker.

She was a faithful member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Staunton, where she devoted many years to teaching Sunday School, playing the piano, and singing in the choir. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she enjoyed serving her church in many ways, including being active in the Women’s Circle.

Jane had a passion for gardening and fixing meals for family and friends. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and following her favorite sports. A collector at heart, she delighted in attending auctions, shopping, and gathering “treasures”.

She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Layne, and Tracey J. Fulton and her husband, William “Mac”, Emma Beth Law Gutzler and her husband, Michael, Mary Kate Law and her husband, Timothy Jordan; her grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew Layne, Clara and Lawson Gutzler, and Theodora Jordan; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wilkerson Law; her fiancé, Boyd Wood; her son-in-law, Steven Layne; and her sisters, Jean Holbert and Kay Knous.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Staunton with Pastor Derek Almarode officiating.

Interment will immediately follow at the church cemetery.

The Men of the Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Blue Ridge Christian Home in Raphine for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Jane. Their loving support and dedication brought comfort to both Jane and her family, and they will always be deeply grateful.
