Jean Spradlin King, 93, widow of W. W. “Barney” King, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
Mrs. King was born on July 1, 1929, in Waynesboro, Virginia, the youngest daughter of Luther Davis and Ethel Marie (Thacker) Spradlin.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by four sisters, Louise Summers, Geneva Teter, Marjorie Lambert, and O’Neil Simmons.
Jean was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a bookkeeper in the automotive industry for many years and was employed by Baugher Chevrolet in Waynesboro and Rule Volkswagen in Staunton until she retired. Jean attended Fishersville United Methodist Church. Jean enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions. She had many fond memories of spending time with her sisters playing card games, attending family Sunday dinners, and going on picnics.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend gratitude to Jean’s caregivers at King’s Daughters Nursing and Rehab as well as Hospice of the Shenandoah for support in her final days.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Augusta Memorial Park by Rev. Gene Williams.
