Jeane Isabel (Collins) Campfield, 97, widow of Boyd R. “Buddy” Campfield, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Brookdale in Staunton.
She was born on June 25, 1925 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Walter H., Sr. and Edna (Hays) Collins.
Jeane was a life member of First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Lee High School (Class of 1942) and Dunsmore Business College. She was previously employed by Woodrow Wilson Army Hospital, and after years of raising her family, Jeane was employed for 21 years as Financial Secretary at Bessie Weller Elementary. After retirement, she was a volunteer for 29 years at King’s Daughters Hospital and Augusta Health.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Samuel; a brother, Walter H. Collins, Jr.; a sister, Mary Della Campbell; and a niece, Cindy Jeane Campbell.
She is survived by a son, Michael C. Campfield of Oakton; a daughter, Jane Campfield-Nessar (Mike); two beloved granddaughters, Brakke Crosby-Wells (Andrew) and Kenna Campfield; three great-grandsons, Ryan, Collin, and Nicholas Crosby who she referred to as “the boys”. She is also survived by her dear sister, Betty C. Critz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside will follow at 3 p.m. in Thornrose Cemetery.
