John I. Petitt

John Ira Petitt, 71, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Carrington Place at Botetourt Commons in Daleville.

He was born on March 28, 1954, in Rockbridge County, to the late Ira Lee and Crystal Eleanor Grant Petitt.

John proudly served in the United States Navy. He also worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Powder Metallurgy Company in Lewisville, Texas. 

Outside of work, John enjoyed shooting pool with friends and spending time fishing. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Heather Nicole Petitt; his son, Bryan Wesley Petitt; his grandchildren, Lance Michael and Lacey Lynn Hudson; and the mother of his children, Cynthia Lynn Clemmer Petitt.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Lee Petitt; and his sister, Kathryn Alice Petitt Washington.
