Joseph O. Walker

Staunton, VA…   Joseph Ollie Walker, 88, husband of Elsie Marie (Pritt) Puffenbarger Walker, died Friday, March 16, 2018 in Kings Daughters Community Health & Rehab. He was born on April 11, 1929 in Mitchellville, MD, a son of the late Ollie Joseph and Virginia Marie (Bell) Walker and was the oldest of 14 children. He was a retired farmer, a member of Verona United Methodist Church and the Open Door Sunday School Class. In addition to farming, he was a mechanic and enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.  He was also a member of the Apple Dumpling Gang. In addition to his wife, surviving family members include three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Henry and Lorraine Walker of Falling Waters, WV, Sterling, Sr. and Cindy Walker, of Chaptico, MD, and Ronnie Wayne and Lisa Walker of Aquasco, MD; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Jack Johnson of Fairfield, PA and Dorothy and Tom Windsor of Stafford, and; a step son, Clinton Puffenbarger and his wife, Ellen, of Gordonsville; a step daughter, Phyllis Mauzy and husband Larry, of Verona, eighteen grandchildren, five Step Grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, five brothers, Vincent, Richard, Gene, Paul and Steve Walker; and a sister, Mae Walker. He is preceded in death by a step son, Russell Puffenbarger. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastors Bob Weeks and Jeff Allen. Burial will follow in Greenhill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Sterling Walker, Sr., Sterling Walker, Jr., Tom Windsor, Joseph Walker, Larry Mauzy, Clinton Puffenbarger, Jack Johnson and Ronnie Walker.
