Joyce M. Bradshaw

Joyce Marie Mackey Bradshaw, 92, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fishersville.

She was the area's first baby of 1934 - born on New Year's Day in Augusta County to the late James William and Juanita Lee Gum Mackey. In celebration of the event, she was gifted a complimentary bank account and commemorative baby ring from National Valley Bank in Staunton. 

A 1952 graduate of Wilson Memorial High School, she went on to have a career as a skilled nurse.

Outside of her her career, she was an avid bowler and played at Staunton Lanes for decades. Among many wins and accolades, she was the 1971 Women's Singles Champion.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Byrd Bradshaw; her brother, James William Mackey; and her sisters, Elnita Dare Mackey Harold and Joan Leigh Mackey Andrews.

Graveside services will be private at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro at a later date.
