Joyce Layne (Tyler) Hassett, 88, widow of Paul Hassett, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Augusta Health Shenandoah House.
She was born on September 22, 1933 in Barone, NJ to the late Wilbur Hall and Maddie Jane (Lam) Tyler.
Mrs. Hassett is survived by two sons, Garry Hassett (Mary) and Paul L. Hassett, Jr. (Brenda); and a daughter, Kimberly Poole (Michael); three sisters, Patsy Rowe, Kaye Jackson, and Judy Everist; nine grandchildren, Todd Hassett (Chrissy); Paul L. Hassett III “Trae” (Amanda), Jennifer Eavey (Michael), Matthew Hassett (Alice), Sarah Corbett (JoAnn), Brittany Corbett (David), Rebekah Poole (Chip), Krystal Stuples, and Christopher Robinson; 15 great-grandchildren, Leya Corbett, Chance Hassett, Drew Eavey, Krystalyn Hassett, Ethan Corbett, Emily Eavey, Taylor Hassett, Ian Hassett, Erinn Shifflett, Emma Mines, Maddison Ramsey, Kaden Hassett, Madlyn Eavey, Addie Mines, and Waylon Shifflett; and one great-great-grandchild, Gracelynn Johnson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Wilber “Sonny” Tyler, Jr. four sisters, Bette Williams, Peggy Greenberg, Nancy Leonard, Sharon Marcantoni; a grandson, Cody Hassett; and a great-grandchild, Kaleb Corbett.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm, Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Henry Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 27, 2022 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shenandoah Hospice House, Augusta Health, 111 N. Campus Drive, Fishersville, VA, 22939.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Shenandoah Hospice House.
