Judith Mary Atkinson

Judith Mary (Zikas) Atkinson, 79, widow of William Henry “Bill” Atkinson, Jr., of Staunton died Wednesday, March 23, 2021, at Brookdale.

She was born June 11, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of the late August and Lillian (Dacolias) Zikas.

Prior to retirement, she was employed as a high school teacher in Saline and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Judith loved traveling and after retiring, she met her husband Bill on a cruise ship in 2000.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Judy loved listening to classical music and she was active in Afternoon Classics book group at Staunton Public Library and loved reading poetry She was part of the local garden club and enjoyed growing orchids as a hobby.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Greg Zikas.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.
