Judy Mae Miller Buchanan, 81, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Birch Ridge Senior Living in Staunton, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on October 29, 1944 in Augusta County to the late James Monroe and Mary Virginia Simmons Miller.
Judy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished time spent with her family. She enjoyed cooking, attending church, and creating a warm, welcoming home for those she loved. She never met a stranger and had a spunky spirit that made her truly unforgettable. Her great-grandchildren held a very special place in her heart and brought her endless joy. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Jeanette Buchanan Kellogg and her husband, Tommy; her sons, Gary Wilson Miller and Terry William Miller; her granddaughter, Ashley Shianne Kellogg and her fiancé, Chris; her great-grandchildren, Havyn, McKinley, and Asher Cloonan; her sisters, Brenda Gail Hevener and Mildred “Millie” Kehrer and her husband, Ted; her brother, Richard “Dickie” Monroe Miller and his wife, Sharon; her brother-in-law, Irvin K. Crabbe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, James Monroe and Mary Virginia Simmons Miller, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles “Bucky” Montgomery Buchanan; her son, Fred Wilson Miller, Jr.; her sister, Mary Catherine Miller Crabbe; her brother-in-law, Gary Hevener; and a precious great-granddaughter, Ava Ann Cloonan.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton, with Pastor Dennis Bradley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Birch Ridge Senior Living and Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided. The family also wishes to offer a special thank you to her hospice nurse, Destynie, for the love and care she gave over the past few months and for treating Judy like her own family.
