Judy Lynn Stephenson, 78, of Stuarts Draft, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at her residence.
She was born in Augusta County on November 5, 1947, the daughter of the late Clyde Bell, Sr. and Betty Jane Glover Stephenson.
Judy grew up on her family’s farm in Middlebrook. She often enjoyed reminiscing about her childhood and the many memories she made growing up on the farm.
For many years, Judy served as an office manager at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center in Verona. She also worked for a time in office administration at the Augusta County Courthouse in Staunton. She was known for her attention to detail, strong work ethic, resilience, and determined spirit.
Behind that strength was a much softer side and a genuine heart for others. In retirement, Judy spent many years as a caregiver, offering compassion, patience, and love to those who needed it most. She had a true heart of gold and found great meaning in caring for others.
Judy also loved flowers and took great pride in keeping a beautiful, well-tended yard filled with them. She enjoyed sharing stories and memories of her late brother, “C.B.,” and the adventures they shared together.
She is survived by her loving neighbors and dearest friends, the Clawson Family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Bell Stephenson, Jr and her special friends, Harry “Kenny” Kennan Thomas and Walter Newton Robertson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Saint John’s Reformed United Church of Christ Cemetery in Middlebrook.
