Katherine T. Franklin

Katherine T. Franklin, 81, widow of Eugene Heavener Franklin, Jr., passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at her sister's residence in Fort Washington, Maryland. 

She was born on June 21, 1942, in Charlottesville to the late Rudolph Benjamin Taylor, Sr., and Louise Katherine Frye Taylor.

Katherine led a fulfilling career as a clerical specialist in the healthcare industry at Augusta Health. Beyond her professional endeavors, Katherine had a broad range of interests that brought joy to her life. She particularly enjoyed socializing with friends and family at party mixers. In addition to this, she served as a deacon for First Baptist Church in Staunton and found immense fulfillment in serving her church community. Katherine also worked part-time for Henry Funeral Home, extending her compassion and support to those who were grieving.

She is survived by  her daughters, Cecilia Franklin Bonners and Debra Franklin Wallace; her sisters, Camille Taylor Eubanks, Ann Taylor Fowler, Doretha Taylor Jackson, and Ramona Taylor Gordon; her brothers, Morris E. Taylor, and Milton C. Taylor; as well as numerous other relatives and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.

In addition to her husband and parents, Katherine is preceded in death by her sons, Eugene Heavener Franklin lll and Robert L Franklin; and a brother, Rudolph Benjamin Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Friday, February 16, 2024 at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. A funeral service to honor Katherine's life will be held at 11:00 AM in the chapel conducted by the Reverend Michael Turner.  Family and friends will gather at Oakwood Cemetery in Charlottesville at 2:00 PM for the committal service.

Katherine T. Franklin will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her work, her vibrant personality, and her commitment to serving others. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in the memories we shared with Katherine and the impact she made on our lives.
