Kathleen Hope (Halterman) Harmon, 90, wife of Austin Page Harmon of Staunton died Monday, May 31, 2021 at her residence.
Mrs. Harmon was born November 4, 1930 in Mt. Solon, VA to the late Theodore Grandle and Bessie Arbula (Rawley) Halterman.
She was an avid golfer, gardener and bird watcher. She made beautiful cross-stitching while she was able, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Liz Harmon of Verona; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and William Ryman of Wintergreen; a sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Carlye Grimm of Bridgewater; four grandchildren, Ben Harmon (Rebecca), Katie Crabtree (Joe), Hope Meeks (Jonathan) and Weston Ryman; nine great-grandchildren, Caroline, Elsie, Huck Crabtree, Caleb, Riley, Isaac Meeks, Wyatt and Olivia Harmon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harmon is preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Simmons and Evelena Halterman.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm, Friday, June 4, 2021 at St. John’s United Methodist Church by the Reverends Chuck Cole and Ed Pruitt. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private after the service.
Active pallbearers will be Ben Harmon, Joe Crabtree, Jonathan Meeks, Carl Arey, William Ryman and Gary Simmons.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Phyllis Whetzel, Traci Simmons and Rhonda Sowers.
