Kenneth R. Moore, Jr.

Kenneth Robert Monroe, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 17, 2026, in Fort Myers, Florida, at the age of 88. 

He was born on September 23, 1937, in Clifton Forge, Virginia.

Ken spent his youth in Staunton and graduated with a BA from UVA. After graduation, he earned a commission from the U.S. Coast Guard and served as a search and rescue officer in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Later, with an MBA from the University of Maryland, Ken began his pharmaceutical business career, rising quickly through the executive ranks. He later founded an executive search consultancy, which led to complete retirement after relocating back to his hometown of Staunton. Ken became active in Staunton with various volunteer activities and was elected to the Vestry and served as Treasurer of Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton.

Ken is survived by his devoted wife, Lucie Terriault; his brother, Joseph T. Monroe (Bonnie); his children, Nicholas Trimble, and Kenneth Robert III (Allison); and his grandchildren, Kenneth Robert IV and Mary Allison. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Nicholas Monroe, and his parents, Kenneth Robert Monroe and Virginia Trimble Monroe.

Ken is remembered for his quiet strength, honesty, and appreciation for small town living, friendships, and family. Ken was a man of firm principles and unwavering integrity. He was equally known for his easy-going nature and quick sense of humor.

Ken was never defined by his challenges: he faced each hurdle with positivity, and an attitude of ‘we can fix this’. Ken retained his razor-sharp memory, generosity, and grace to the very end.

Family and friends are invited to the Service of Commendation and Committal that will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church’s Memorial Garden at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026 with the Reverend William "AJ" Heine officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ken’s honor at Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton, VA.
