Lannette “Nan” Keister Savage, 76, wife of George Thomas Savage, Jr., passed away peacefully at her home in Staunton on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 after a brief but brave battle with cancer.
Nan was born on August 18, 1946 in Charlottesville to Luther and Lucretia Grant Keister. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and attended Campbell College. At Campbell, she met and married the love of her life, George Thomas Savage, Jr. and they remained married for 56 years until his recent passing. She was an amazingly devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and Christian. She worked for many years as a dental assistant and in her spare time enjoyed sewing, cross-stitch, baking and making jewelry. She selflessly gave her time volunteering for many civic organizations, like Camp Dragonfly and Augusta Health hospice. A devout Christian, Nan was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband George. She is survived by her sons, George Thomas Savage III (wife Kim) and Timothy Savage; and daughters, Susan Savage and Emily Savage Loan (husband Doug). Also surviving are her grandsons, Tyler Savage and Matthew Savage (Katie Mullins); and granddaughters, Samantha Savage (Saso Morabito), Sarah Loan Reynolds (husband Clint) and Kaitlyn Savage (Al Hammer); and special family dog, Ivy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Johnson and Danny Pritchett officiating.
The family would like to thank the extraordinary staff of Augusta Health Hospice with special thanks to Mary, Carol, Ashley, Joy, and Megan.
It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial contributions to Camp Dragonfly (made payable to Augusta Health Foundation with Camp Dragonfly in the memo line, PO Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939) or Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah (PO Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939).
