Leon “Lee” Bernard Brooks, 80, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond.
He was born on March 13, 1945, in Staunton to the late Lewis Russell and Arlene Catherine Miller Brooks.
Lee graduated from Buffalo Gap High School in Swoope. Upon graduation he served in the United States Navy, before dedicating over thirty years as a driver for UPS.
He was a longtime member of St Paul’s Church in Staunton and loved bowling.
He was a family man-nothing made him happier than spending time with those he loved.
Outside of his family, he found great peace in the mountains - his favorite place to unwind and enjoy nature.
He is survived by his son, Keith Everett Brooks and his wife, Betty; his stepdaughter, Wendy Brown Hale; his companion; Betty Bartley; his stepfather, Albert McCuthcheon; his stepson, Chris Brown and his wife, Alicia; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Brooke Brown, Austin and Jessica Brooks, Dustin Hensley, and Steven, Bethany, Rebecca, and Matthew Hale; five great-grandchildren, and three step grandchildren, Dylan, Bryana, and Bethany Lehmann. Lee is the last surviving of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Mark Brooks; his stepson, Eric Brown; his brother, Frankie Brooks; and his sister, Nancy Dill.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton with Reverend Russell Heinrich officiating.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted with care to Henry Funeral Home.
