Lester Alexander “Buddy” Craig, III, 83, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

He was born on January 31, 1942, in Staunton to the late Lester Alexander, Jr. and Mable Hause Campbell Craig.

Buddy attended Robert E. Lee High School and was a graduate of Staunton College of Business. A proud veteran, he served with the Virginia National Guard.

He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Staunton.

Throughout his career, he was widely known for his entrepreneurial spirit. He was employed by the Waynesboro DuPont Plant and later became co-owner of The Rafters Night Club and The Elbow Room in Staunton and Harrisonburg. He went on to own and operate The Red Shed Inn and the 1776 Night Club in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. In addition, he owned The Shirt Shack and Sure Tanning Center, served as a director with Amway, and most recently was the proprietor of Cars by Craig and Craig Motorsport.

He is survived by his former wife and dear friend, Christie Caverley Craig, and numerous cousins.
