STAUNTON – Lonnie Wayne Baxter, 68, husband of Shannon (Huckaby) Baxter died Thursday, December 9, 2021 at his residence.
Bro. Baxter was born on November 13, 1953 in Mobile, Alabama to the late William Brazel and Mary Melvina (Davis) Baxter.
He earned a degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Bro. Baxter served as pastor for 43 years in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeremy Maddison Baxter; a daughter, Jennifer Christon (Baxter) Mullins; a daughter-in-law, Jessica (Martinkosky) Baxter; two sons-in-law, Raymond Michael Mullins and Gordon Moodhe; and his grandchildren, Maddison Lorene Baxter, Maewyn Louise Baxter and Griffin Brazel Baxter.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Jason Matthew Baxter and a daughter, Jessica Aeron Baxter.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
