Listen to Obituary

Lonnie Carson Maddox, 75, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at his residence in Waynesboro.

He was born on January 2, 1951, in Augusta County, to the late Conley Ferdinand and Irene Gertrude Fitzgerald Maddox.

Lonnie was a devoted family man whose life was centered around faith and togetherness. He was a faithful member of Fishersville Baptist Church.

Lonnie shared a special bond with his beloved dog, “Little Man,” who was a constant companion. He found comfort in familiar favorites, especially watching classic westerns and The Ten Commandments. One of Lonnie’s greatest pleasures was bringing family together, whether for a meal or simply spending time with those he loved most. Cooking for others was something he truly enjoyed, and it was one of the many ways he showed his love.

Above all, family meant everything to Lonnie, and his home was always a place where everyone was welcome.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Ann Maddox Redifer and her husband, Joshua; his in-laws, Glen and Josie Redifer; his daughter-in-law, Angel Maddox; his grandchildren, Scott Redifer, Stephanie Tenorio and her husband, Michael, Sarah Nelson, and Amber Sue Ann Redifer, and Connor Painter; and his great-grandchildren, Braxton Tyree, and Dustin and Lily Nelson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Lawrence Maddox; his grandson, Daniel Lee Redifer; his brothers, Homer Lee, Thurman Caldwell, Carl Kennton, and Ernest “Tink” Franklin Maddox; and his sister, Margarette Gertrude Maddox Parrish.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the Waynesboro Police Department, Fire Department, and First Aid Crew for their kind, compassionate, and professional care.

At this time there will be no services.
