Loyd "Bill" William Ashworth, 81, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, has gone to glory! He passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at his residence in Verona, surrounded by his family.

He was born on October 17, 1942, in Winchester to the late Helen Owen Carlisle Ashworth and was raised by his aunt, Mae Carlisle Cole.

Bill worked as a paving supervisor for B&S Contracting in Staunton. His dedication and excellent work ethic made him an important asset to the company.

Beyond his career achievements, Bill was deeply committed to his faith and was a member of Harvest Church International Christian Center in Staunton. His devotion led him to serve as a Christian missionary three times in Cuba and also in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Columbia. Bill's selflessness and compassion touched the lives of countless individuals across these communities.

Bill's love for sports knew no bounds. He passionately followed many games but held a special place in his heart for football. His enthusiasm for the sport brought joy not only to him but also to those around him. Whether it was cheering on his favorite team or engaging in lively discussions with fellow fans, Bill's love for football was infectious.
